Pre-Sales Frequently Asked Questions

Are the sensors limited to the cable lengths you sell with them?

All of Enviromon's Smart Sensors (with the exception of the Liquid Detection Sensor) are not limited to the cable length that is included, which is typically 5 feet unless otherwise indicated. You can use standard CAT5/6 Ethernet cable to extend the distances of the sensors up to 1000 feet.

What is the difference between smart sensors and dry contact sensors?

The difference between Smart Sensors and dry contact sensors are that smart sensors plug into the Base Units via Ethernet cable. In addition, the Smart Sensors have ranges (i.e. You can define a temperature range for notification with the Temperature Sensors) whereas dry contact sensors are simply on or off (positive or negative). An example of dry contact sensors are Door Contact Sensors.

Are your products upgradeable / expandable?

Yes! Unlike other manufacturers, all of our Smart Sensors, attachments and peripherals work with our entire product line, which means you can keep all of your existing sensors when you upgrade to a larger Base Unit. Firmware on your SensorHawk units can be updated through using a simple graphical tool. Our Customer Support Portal is the prime location for all product and firmware updates.

How is the SensorHawk and SecurityHawk products accessed and controlled?
